今日も手を見る

いま滞在している街にはステキな美術館がたくさんあります。滞在して最初のころにいくつか訪ねました。でも最近は行っていません。理由は3つ。その1、旅行者の入館料がこの国に在住するひとの2倍以上で高いから。その2、いま関心を持っているテーマが美術ではないから。その3、ふつうに公園とか街中で楽しいパブリックアートを見ることができるから。この街の中心を流れる大きな川に沿って、川岸は幹線道路が通っている側と公園が整備されている側に分かれています。川岸を歩くと学校もふくめいろんなところに行くことができるので、ほとんど毎日その川岸の公園を歩いています。わたしがよく通るエリアには、その意味を理解することはできないけれど日が差す広場にピッタリのパブリックアートが点在しています。親子がその作品の中で遊んでいたり、会社員らしい人たちが休憩をとっていたり、とてもなごやか。いいなあ、こういうの。その中に大きな左手があります。その前を通るときはいつも自分の左の手のひらを見ます。それだけだけど。作者の意図はわからないけれど、それでいいんじゃないかと思う。そしてその張りがある左手よりも自分の手のひらがずいぶんと枯れているなあと思うけれど、それは生きている証拠ってことでいいんじゃないかと思う。

Hay muchos museos de arte maravillosos en la ciudad donde estoy ahora. Visité algunos al principio de mi estancia, pero no he estado últimamente. Hay tres razones. Primero, la entrada para turistas cuesta más del doble que la de los ciudadanos del país. Segundo, mi tema actual no es el arte. Tercero, se puede ver arte público interesante en parques y en calles. A lo largo del gran río que atraviesa el centro de la ciudad, la ribera se divide en un lado por donde pasa la carretera principal y otro por el parque. Puedo caminar por la ribera a muchos lugares, incluyendo escuelas, así que paseo por el parque a orillas del río casi todos los días. En la zona por donde paso a menudo, hay obras de arte público que están bien con el sol, aunque no entiendo el significado de las obras. Padres e hijos juegan con las obras, y personas que parecen oficinistas descansan, y se respira mucha paz. Me gusta ese ambiente.Hay una gran mano izquierda en la plaza. Cuando paso frente a ella, siempre miro la palma de mi mano izquierda. Eso es todo. Desconozco la intención del artista, pero me parece bien. Y noto que la palma de mi mano está mucho más marchita que la de mi mano de obra, que es joven, pero supongo que eso demuestra que estoy viviendo.

There are many wonderful art museums in the city where I stay now. I visited some at the beginning of my stay, but I haven't been recently. There are three reasons. First, admission for tourists costs more than twice as much as for local citizens. Second, my current focus isn't on art. Third, I can see interesting public art in parks and on the streets. Along the large river that runs through the city center, the riverbank is divided into a side where the main road runs and a park. I can walk along the riverbank to many places, including schools, so I stroll through the riverside park almost every day. In the area I often pass by, there are public art works that are nice in the sun, although I don't understand the meaning of the works. Parents and children play with the works, and people who look like office workers rest, and it's very peaceful. I like that atmosphere. There's a large left hand work in the square. When I walk past it, I always look at the palm of my left hand. That's all. I don't know the artist's intention, but it seems fine to me. And I notice that the palm of my hand is much more withered than that of that work, which is young, but I suppose that shows I'm living.
